Stormcaller Summoner Sharpshooter Electrode Build

Stormcaller Summoner

This build is a complete lvl 60 setup and will soon be reworked (for now see  the note below for suggested new items, skills to consider). The subclass used is Electrode. I consider the build as not underpowered and can be META when the right person uses it. It can dish out serious damage when we are buffed up & our energy is full. A major source of damage of this build are procs such as Lightning Strike and in order to get many procs we try to maximize the hits per second via various skills. The build stacks extra damage sources that come from two skills: Loyal Shasta (taunts and then gives us passive +50% dmg vs taunted enemies), Sacrifice to Goose (applies vulnerability making enemies take 25% more dmg or 30% with the Tier 1 bonus). We also use various summons Goblin Legion (for goblins) & Boneblocker + Bonerazor (for 10 skeletons) to help procing Lightning Strike on each hit. Add to this the combination of 25% Damage Buff from Localized Storm along its extra nice DPS + Ghost Visage (for mobility + an extra 50% crit chance buff that supposedly will go over the 40% cap but seems to not do so yet) & our main DPS skill – Targeted Strikes OR Tight Grouping OR Explosive Arrow + Thousand-Volt Burst and its very high damage and +50% casting speed buff . And if this was not enough, we have our major source of procsScout’s Bones (with an Infectious Shooter in the Legendarium) with its amazing projectiles flying in every direction. Add Reload on top of this and we can spam have an extra round of ammo, that comes handy while the +50% casting speed buff of Thousand-Volt Burst is active. Skittering Shoulders (even without a set bonus) is a great source of survivability so it could be used instead of the Arc-Powered shoulders if you would rater get more dmg reduction and you’re not wearing the Musketeer Shoulders either.

Edit January 2021: Since the time i made this build there have been some changes (nerfs/buffs) to take in mind as well as new items. Here’s a short list of some things to consider:

  • Thousand-Volt Burst Tier 3 is different – it now does not do the OP dmg but rather gives us 50% energy generation for it’s duration (20 secs due to the Tier 2). It’s good and worth using in many builds but not everyone will want the energy regen.
  • Reload now properly resets the cooldown of adventurer skills and can be amazing when you combine Reload Tier 3 with Scout’s Bones + Infectious Shooter for 3 quick casts of the skill due to the 2 Reload charges.
  • the non-class sets’ shoulders (Skittering, Woodsbeast, etc.) now grant Active Skills that can be placed on our skill bar and no longer get triggered by the relic ults (T-VB, Summoning Smash, Dance of Death, etc.)
  • Amazing new items that one can chain-synergize are: Ancient Ember Boots (to give us the active skill Imbue Relic which recharges our energy fully & with the set bonus also the relic charge). Combine this with Arctic Armaments Weapon & Off-hand set where the Shield (Frostwall) gives us +25% (50% with the set bonus) can reduce the cooldown of Imbue Relic to 30 sec (or 24 sec with the class passive when they all work properly), when combining this with either the Glacier’s Edge Sword or North Mace we can use the Focus item – Lil’ General in legendarium (or slot the Frostwall and wear the focus) to get +25% dmg & dmg reduction for 8 secs when reaching full energy (which Imbue Relic triggers when used) + 25% cast speed from the set bonus. To further the synergy we can use other Ancient Ember set items or some of the amazing Winterweave set items as well.

The skills I use:

  • Onslaught OR Tight Grouping OR Explosive Arrow OR Targeted Strikes– our spammy DPS skills. A very good source of damage.
  • Loyal Shasta – used to taunt enemies and keep them grouped up for our dmg spam also makes taunted enemies take 50% more dmg. Can do some more dmg + heal us when the Shasta’s Promise shield is equipped/slotted in the Legendarium.
  • Sacrifice to Goose – we use it to apply vulnerability, making enemies take 25% more dmg or 30% with the Tier 1 bonus
  • Reload – resets the cooldowns of all Adventure Skills and also fully restores our ammo. Sadly it is still broken and only resets Loyal Shasta & Goblin Legion.
  • Ghost Visage – our escape mechanic and a movement skill. We also get 50% crit chance for the next 3 uses of Targeted Strikes/Tight Grouping/Explosive Arrow after using it
  • Scout’s Bones – When boosted by the Infectious Shooter pistol this one shoots poison projectiles in all directions as the rat ball(s) travel forward. It can become a major source of proc = DPS
  • Goblin Legion – helps with procing Lightning Strike. Each hit from our Goblins can proc various things. Becomes very good with the extra 3 Goblin gunners from Ryeful of Leedarshap (it’s Tier 2 bonus gives +10% dmg vs Slowed, Stunned, or Blinded enemies). This can be removed when using Tight Grouping as it Slows too.
  • Localized Storm – It’s a great Extra DPS to nearby enemies + also helps get more stuff procing as well as a +25% dmg buff + another 10% Movement Speed to us and nearby allies.
  • Thousand-Volt Burst – Our BIG relic skill that we can active after spending a total of 200 energy with other skills like Localized Storm. It’s good to save and use this on champions & bosses.

The gear I recommend using is:

MY IDEAL EQUIPPED GEAR:

  • A 1-handed setup with good rolled + socketed 1 handed Blue weapon + a good rolled & socketed Boneblocker. (You could wear Wideload’s Cavebreaker, Bonerazor or Infectious Shooter if no better DPS Blue 1handed is avai8lable).
  • OR a well rolled socketed blue 2-handed weapon. (that kind of makes it a different build cuz no skeletons)
  • Must wear at least 3 Musketeer pieces! I suggest wearing: Musketeer Hat + Gloves + Robe:
    • Musketeer Cavalier Hat – gives +1 Precision Skills (+2 with the 3 piece set bonus) [I’ve tested it now gives you extra levels and DMG if the skill is already lvl 10 and you can use this to overcap skills]
    • Musketeer Gauntlets – summons one (or two with the 3 piece set bonus) archer spirits to fight alongside you (they use Tight Grouping)
    • Musketeer Boots (not a bad bonus and we have to o wear 3 Musketeer pieces for the set bonus)
    • Musketeer Shouldersuse a potion: restore a charge of Ghost Visage (2 charges restored with the set bonus)
    • If not slotting it: Musketeer Robe – gives +1 Adventurer Skills (+2 with the 3 piece set bonus) [I’ve tested it now gives you extra levels and DMG if the skill is already lvl 10 and you can use this to overcap skills]
  • Arc-Powered Shoulders (a great choice when not using the Musketeer ones) – Cast Thousand-Volt Burst: become Charged Up for 15 sec., gaining 30% Movement Speed and dealing 100% Weapon Damage to nearby enemies on hit

If you ‘slot in’ the Musketeer Robe, you can get a good stat boost from a well-rolled + socketed Blue Chest.

You’ll be looking for flat dmg, optionally % elemental dmg and/or Crit dmg/chance, +%Evasion +%Block Chance, +%Chance to shock, +Additional bolt(s) fired on shock, +% Precision Skills dmg, +% Onslaught/Tight Grouping/Explosive Arrow/Targeted Strikes/ DMG (depending what you use), + X lvl to any skill you use and have more than 1 point into, + others.

  • Blue Legs and (Chest if slotting the legendary) rolled for flat dmg + % elemental dmg or Crit dmg with a socket if not using Musketeer
  • Blue Boots rolled for % dmg (if stacking the same element across your gear) and/or Crit dmg with socket.

Blue Gear only gets 1 socket now.

Suggested Legendarium Powers (to fill in the gaps from items you’re wearing):

MY IDEAL LEGENDARIUM COMBO:

  • Ryeful of Leedarshap (Rifle) – gives Goblin Legion additional 3 Goblin Gunners
  • Infectious Shooter (Pistol) – this boost our Scout’s Bones skill and gives it an amazingly fun ability to shoot loads of poison projectiles which results in a ton of procs. VERY GOOD SOURCE OF DPS for this build!
  • Bonerazor (for bosses) OR Wideload’s Cavebreaker (for mobbing) Bonerazor empowers an equipped Boneblocker to get a total of 10 skeletons. The Cavebreaker does On Hit: 10% chance to drop stalactites, dealing 30% weapon damage in an area.

Based on availability & your preference there are alternatives:

  • Option 1: Lil’Drake
  • Option 2: Arc-Powered Shoulders (if not equipped)
  • Option 3: Arc-Powered Boots (when at high block chance)
Or anything else you like (i.e. Skittering Shoulders if you need survivability) In an upcoming update the Arc-Powered, Woodsbeast, and Skittering Shoulders will give us an active skill to slot in the skill bar which would be bad for some builds that relied on them so try not to get too attached to either.

The recommended stats to look for in your items are (the list is not in order of priority and is just listing good bonuses + there’s new stats and I might have missed some which will get added later):

  • + Flat Damage (any)
  • +% elemental dmg (any) – starts getting very good later on when you have a nice flat to boost with this if you match the flat with the %
  • +% Damage to Precision skills
  • +% Damage to Onslaught OR Tight Grouping OR Explosive Arrow OR Targeted Strikes (depends what you use)
  • +% Duration to Localized Storm
  • +% Damage to Localized Storm, Thousand-Volt Burst (I’d focus on either Localized Storm or Thousand-Volt Burst if going for relic dmg stacking)
  • + Health
  • + Defense (the non elemental is good for any act but lesser numbers than elemental)
  • +% Critical Hit Chance (the cap is 40% but some skills will be able to get it past the cap)
  • +% Critical Damage (the cap is 300%)
  • +% Gear Luck (eventually try to get like 50-75% total for good drop quantity – the cap is 100%)
  • +% Energy Recharge Rate
  • -% Relic Energy cost
  • +% Block Chance (capped at 40%)
  • +% Chance to Evade damage (capped at 40%)
  • +% Ammo Regeneration
  • +% Chance to Chill – a decent CC proc
  • +% Chance to Poison is a decent DoT and stacks with other DoTs
  • +% Chance to Bleed and/or Burn to stack the poison with the other DoTs.
  • +% Chance to Shock a decent proc and is VERY nice for this build
  • +% Additional Bolts Fired on Shock a decent proc and also VERY nice for this build
  • +% Chance to Stun/Slow/Blindgood and could be useful when investing into Tier 2 Rizzi’s Fate. Not a very important choice tho.

The Skills and Passives I recommend are:

IMPORTANT: Keep in mind that my setup is WITH the +2 Precision & +2 Adventurer skill levels from the Musketeer Set Hat + Robe! On top of that I did NOT have extra +1, 2 ,3 Skill Point(s) from my Hat/Helmet.

REGULAR VERSION (Complete version of the one used in the video):

lvl 1 Goblin Legion + lvl 5 Energizer + lvl 10 Thousand-Volt Burst + lvl 8 in either Tight Grouping OR Onslaught OR Targeted Strikes OR Explosive Arrow

WITH A GOBLIN BRUTE, LVL 2 ENERGIZER, LVL6 THOUSAND-VOLT BURST:

lvl 1 Goblin Legion + lvl 5 Energizer + lvl 10 Thousand-Volt Burst + lvl 8 in either Tight Grouping OR Onslaught OR Targeted Strikes OR Explosive Arrow

Suggested way to level any Electrode Sharpshooter:

At lvl 2 get Localized Storm lvl 1
At lvl 5 get Ghost Visage lvl 3 + Chaotic Strikes lvl 1 (after saving points)
At lvl 6 get Targeted Strikes lvl 1 (unless you already respeced the 1 point from Tight Grouping into Targeted Strikes)
At lvl 7, 8, get lvl 2,3, Chaotic Strikes
At lvl 10 get lvl 1 Sacrifice to Goose, lvl 1 Tingling Sensation and lvl 1 Reload
At lvl 11 get lvl 4 Chaotic Strikes
At lvl 15 get Lightning Strike to lvl 5 (after saving points)
At lvl 20 get Loyal Shasta lvl 6 (after saving points)
At lvl 21 get lvl 1 Thousand-Volt Burst
At lvl 22 to 27 get Chaotic Strikes from lvl 5 to 10
At lvl 28 start investing more into Tingling Sensation if you lack chance to shock from gear
From this point it’s up to personal preference what to focus on – Tingling Sensation, Shocking Display, Targeted Strikes Tier 3, Reload Tier 2 or even 3 if you feel you need it, Thousand-Volt Burst, Energizer, Sacrifice to Goose Tier 1 or 2. All of those are good in their own way so prioritize what you feel you need the most at that moment.

Once you feel like you have all the legendary items needed equipped and in the Legendarium and you’re confident that it’s time to respec into the actual build, you can remove the points from Chaotic Strikes and put them towards other things (such as Scout’s Bones. Scout’s Bones is not that great for procmonster builds without the Infectious Shooter (maybe at lvl 10 it’s not that bad but still nowhere near as good as the boosted version).

  1. More of an advanced question but what do you reckon for actual stats on gear? Legendary’s I don’t really have a choice as I just take whatever i can get but what about Blues’

Without spending thousands of gold its hard to tell whether its worth stacking chance to shock on both 1H+Shield , as theres no explanation of what shock actually does, compared to the other 3 damage types (bleed/burn/poision) it doesn’t seem to be an actually dot, rather an aoe that occurs everytime you hit a shocked enemy (so useless vs a single target) but vs trash with targeted strikes if i can math your looking at (3X 100%+ damage X mobs hit X mobs in range X Bonus shock bolts…. which could well be into the hundreds of thousands of damage)

Shoulders I’m looking for +% Targeted Strikes
    Pants +% Targeted Strikes
Feet + Localized Storm Duration +%element damage

Or you do you reckon wearing a 3-piece of another legendary gear set would be more useful?

Do you know which slots you can roll +localized storm duration, + %bonus to element damage & + bonus shock bolts?

    1. Yeah i know most of the stuff you asked about and i normally say it in my videos but i don’t go in this much detail in the text versions is guess.
So you do want chance to shock on your weapon vs another flat dmg roll only if you want to proc lightning strike more often. For trash clearing on the popcorn mobs it’s good but keep in mind a proc can not proc another proc so the lightning bolt can’t proc the strikes.

You want +% dmg to targeted strikes (or w/e other skill is your main dmg source) on shoulders + chest + pants (ideally you’ll get crit dmg on the shoulders alongside it, crit chance or flat dmg on the pants alongside it, and on the chest flat dmg or crit dmg alongside it).
On boots you’ll want crit dmg instead of elemental dmg (if you get localized storm duration). This crit dmg gives better dps than the +% elemental dmg (even if you have a ton of flat matching dmg).
I’m not sure which other slots could roll duration but it’s not the chest or pants as far as I remember (and most likely not the helm either).
You can roll +X& to shock chance affixes on gloves (which basically just gives additive shock chance without increasing the proc’s dmg).

  2. Another thing to add, if you update this is in the future…. (You’ve been playing something else so haven’t been on the stream to chat)

Tingling Sensation stacks if you roll % Chance to shock in the socket of your off-hand (which will/should- be Boneblocker) So you can drop 4 points from that and put them into the passive from onslaught (or somewhere else if you feel the 4 points will give you more damage)

So with both weapons & off-hand you want to aim for weapon damage/chance to shock/time in that order…..

    https://i.gyazo.com/2e29aa52a888ebaad00b79d6ce0cd49c.jpg

So dropped what i thought was 8% chance to shock (which turned to actually be 2%) for 10% damage to relic skills which was +40% to Localized storm, +13% to shocking display & +85% to thousand volt burst

Railmaster is easily the best class as it stands (based on what i have played & who i have grouped with) as you can run +50% damage reduction from skills before anything else from skills etc, SS is high damage, but you die to nonsense if your not paying attention, once i get a couple of crit damage rolls I’m pretty sure i’ll reach close to 251 @79 just now, but was stuck in the 30’s before I got a couple of ‘average’ rolls for slots

    1. Yeah I knew this but thanks for writing it for those who may not know that. I might add that gloves/gauntlets also can roll with % Chance to shock (or at least used to for a while because i’ve not seen one roll with it since gear and goblins landed) and that also is additive to your weapon’s chance to shock and any others like off-hand or socket. I personally prefer rolling my shield sockets for defense and loosing dps for more survivability as i’m not that good at avoiding hits.

Good luck with min-maxing those crit rolls. Keep in mind with the next update we’re finally getting a fix for legendary items not dropping with elemental dmg (flat and/or %) that atm only drop on blue weps and armors. Also legendary will be 20% stronger than blue so a blue lifebound would be equal to legendary but legendary still will be better due to the extra affix slot. I can’t reveal any more than this for now but there’s a lot to get excited about especially the new armor set and the new wep + offhand or shield megaset (that need 2 out of 4 pieces equipped to get the bonus).

      1. I was planning on keeping all my contract rewards until the next update but since I don’t actually know what the fort rewards are I might still be missing all 3 fort rewards ‘1 per contract’ as well as 2 pets so need to open them until it launches.. Although tbf the new update will probs launch the same weekend as Cyberpunk 2077, so I’ll be lucky if i spend a couple of hours playing it

        1. Indeed, I’ll also be keeping myself busy with Cyberpunk in regards to playing, streaming, making all sorts of content for it. The fort rewards from the goblins n gear were the ones they mentioned in the patch notes/reveal. I don’t remember all of them but there was a big statue, a tombstone, a coffin, and then i think there was a cemetery gate that ‘s the type which has two moving gates and had like a skull pattern on it. And not sure if that was part of the items we can get but it was in the reveal screenshot for GnG too: a big cemetery wall element that looks like a massive tombstone but was definitely a wall element. There was also a table with a book and candles that might also be one of the new props. The winter update will have even more of those.

  3. Any plans to update this (or possibly new builds) based on the snow & steam update? Thousand volt burst damage is now trash (still worth using upto tier 2 for the 50% attack/cast speed buff), but with the new bonus’s you get from fazeers levels (+5 to musketeer/adventurer skills) you can probably reach 251 running any combination of skills tbh.

Running pretty much your regular build w/ 10 in targetted strikes + the tier 2 passive bonuses (not on bar) from Onslaught/Explosive Arrow/Heartseeker & Pipi’s (not tight grouping or rizzi’s as for some reason you only get +2 instead of +5), using the spares points for t3 reload and any other active skill.

Gonna take forever to farm gear but now legendary’s drop with the same skills as blues you should be able to equip equip Infectious shooter, Woodbeasts sandals & whatever legs/shoulders you like which leaves your legendarium open for Ryeful of Leedarship,Winterweave Cuirass + Wideloads Cavebreaker (or another skill)

    1. Yeah I’ll try to update some of the build and maybe even do 2.0 videos for them (or 3.0 where applicable) but I first want to make 1-2 more forged builds. Tier 3 TVB is really shit now and those 4 points are much better spent for another tier 2 class passive or into other relic things. Cavebreaker is not that great as it no longer can cause procs and i’m not sure why you mentioned woodsbeast sandals. I think from winterweave the chest and gauntlets are amazing and maybe getting the legs for potion cooldown is not bad if needed. Any set shoulders with +% skill dmg to your preferred skill (i.e. targeted strikes) is great so maybe 3 pieces winterweave and 3 pieces musketeer. I think the best way to do it is to either slot musketeer robe in legendarium or the winterweave one and then: wear winterweave legs + gauntlets + robe (or other if slotting that one) + musketeer hat + shoulder + boots. The must have pieces are musketeer robe + hat and winterweave chest + gauntlets (+ maybe legs) while the rest is flexible which set piece in you put which slot as long as you get 3 of each set. Equipping the Infectious Shooter is ideal but it will be very hard to get so lucky and get a good shooter with flat dmg and socket in the fazeer (but amazing if you do get one). I’d say arc-powered shoulders or skittering shoulders or ancient ember boots will be a good combo to help with procs but another good combo will be the sword of the lost legion and if you wanna take it up a north get frostwall + the north mace (or glacier’s edge or just the shield) for that cooldown. Right now the Frostwall doe not decrease the cooldown on Sword of the Lost Legion but when it does it won’t be a bad combo.

      1. Woodbeast sandels proc from lightning strike/shockbolts etc so despite it saying 2% you have almost 100% uptime on it, for 25% crit chance, although once i reach crit cap it will be a mute point

The potion cooldown looks good, but with the higher % drops you are close to being unkillable (3 sockets on every bit of gear) you can get 100k+ defence on a pair of legs(+ crit damage/another stat) & now the defence cap seems to be higher than it was before you reach a point where you can just stand in all the aoe’s and it takes 10s or before it kills you, which Is why I ended up looking at wearing 3 musketeers + 3 random pieces that don’t even make up a set but have a good passive(s)

Not even reached 251(233 pushed from 130-odd since patch) yet and not been anywhere near dying for 50+ fazeer’s, still missing 6 sockets (5 that can only roll defence)

        1. I wouldn’t rely on this power creep to remain the same way it is. It’s getting a huge nerf and won’t be surprised if it gets completely removed and they rebalance the monsters to match. It’s silly how much dmg and defence we can get now and how much hp the enemies at lvl 251 have (700% hp+). There were talks of removing flat dmg from items and that would be the worst thing if they do it. I’d rather them nerf the power creep or make it not affect certain affixes but then rebalance the monsters to fit instead of the current boring way it works. As for the woodsbeast sandals it seems like something i wouldn’t want as 40 crit chance is pretty easy to get on a sharpshooter with the crit aura + ghost visage + helmet + legs + maybe more from a wep or w/e

Last night i got my defences pretty high with just 2 triple socketed item with 117% stats boost so with full 117% it’s just going to be silly, and that was without me using lifebound scrolls on those either

  4. Oh yes, really love to see updated versions from Sharpshooter Builds. No good Guides out there in the World 🙂
    Thx for your nice Videos.

      1. Just caught you streaming the other day, nice to see someone cares about min maxing as much as i do …

On the note of upgrading the builds, maybe you just leave a * on the end of the outdated guides with a couple bullet points on the nerfs and buffs, and some of the alternative skills to the ones nerfed.

Keep up the good work mate, subbed on youtube and hope to see more content.

        1. Hi, thanks for watching my content (and reading it as well) as well as for the sub! I’ll try to do as you suggested although I am planning on fully updating every single one of the outdated or not-so-outdated builds with 2.0 versions (or 3.0 where it applies). I guess some “Edit” notes with suggested new gear to consider in the build as well as respecs due to nerfs/buffs would be something I can do first this weekend so people won’t need to wait for the updates/reworks of those builds.
