Blinding Fortress 2.0 Mage Build (Warhammer: Chaosbane)

Blinding Fortress 2.0

This is the first rework (2.0) of my Blinding Fortress DoT centric mage build for Warhammer: Chaosbane. This build focuses on maxing out the Damage over Time (DoT) of Blinding Light Heroic. It also uses the Master of Equilibrium Superior passive skill to help us reduce our cooldown when consuming energy and to gain energy when using cooldown skills. We can channel Breath of Fire Mastered & use Blinding Light Heroic without interrupting the channeling. This allows us to keep reducing our heroic skill’s cooldown and to spam it + Aetheric Vortex Superior to get more energy to keep on reducing the heroic skill’s cooldown. The blessings used are: the combo for Damage over Time +hp +crit dmg with more hp than crit damage (fully linked Green+Yellow+Green on both sides) and we use those on 4, 5 or 6 items; for the other items I recommend the dmg+hp combo (fully linked Green+Red) and you can decide if you want more HP or DMG. NOTE: The build requires owning the God Skills DLC & the Tomb Kings DLC if you decide to use Hero of the Desert. The Season’s Pass includes all current DLCs + any future ones and is also included in the Magnus Edition.

The gear I recommend using is:

  • the Morvael’s (The Impetuos One) set as armor
  • Blade of Azyre – a good dmg source (can use a Soulfire if using Phoenix Herald+ superior Phantom Blade combo)
  • Relentless Sentinel – amazing for survivability (can use a Phoenix Herald if using Soulfire + superior Phantom Blade combo)
  • Phase Shift Amulet – the best in slot because of the dmg + dmg reduction
  • Ring of the Veil will be amazing because we don’t need energy much (or other of your choice with good rolls such as Ring of Khaine’s Fury for DMG)
  • Dragon’s Blood Ring can give +50% Damage over Time after using the archetype ability (manipulation is spacebar on PC), else Ring of Dexterity is nice to give our Phantom Blade 100% more dmg (or other of your choice with good rolls)

The recommended stats to look for in each item are:

For the Helmet:

  • Cooldown Reduction (high priority)
  • HP (high priority)
  • Armor (high priority)
  • Health regen (mid)
  • Resistance to DoT (mid)

For the Chest & Leg Armor:

  • HP (high priority)
  • Armor (high priority)
  • Health regen (mid)
  • Resistance to DoT (mid)

For the Boots:

  • HP (high priority)
  • Armor (high priority)
  • Movement Speed (mid priority because the build’s pretty mobile anyways)
  • Health regen (mid)
  • Resistance to DoT (mid)

For the Gloves:

  • Damage (high priority)
  • HP (high priority)
  • Damage over Time (high priority)
  • Armor (high/mid priority)
  • Crit DMG (high/mid priority)
  • Health regen (low priority)
  • Resistance to DoT (low)

For the Sword:

  • Damage (highest priority)
  • Cooldown Reduction (high priority)
  • Damage over Time (high priority)
  • HP (high priority)
  • Crit DMG (high/mid)
  • Armor Piercing (high/mid priority)
  • Health Drain (mid)

For the Scepter:

  • Crit Chance (highest priority)
  • Damage (highest priority)
  • Damage over Time (high priority)
  • HP (high priority)
  • Cooldown Reduction (high/mid priority)
  • Armor Piercing (high/mid priority)
  • Crit DMG (mid priority as it only gives up to around 40ish)
  • Health Drain (mid)

For the Amulet & Rings:

  • Damage (highest priority)
  • Crit Chance (highest priority)
  • HP (high)
  • Damage over Time (high priority)
  • Armor Piercing (moderate/mid)
  • Crit DMG (moderate/mid)
  • Health Drain (mid)
  • Cooldown Reduction (mid)
  • HP Regen (low)
  • Resistance to DoT (low)

The Skills and Passives I recommend are:

  • Phantom Blade Heroic (a nice dmg source)
  • Breath of Fire Mastered (nice dmg source + while channeling has a chance to lower our cooldowns)
  • Aetheric Storm Mastered (for dmg buff and extra aoe DMG hits)
  • Blinding Light Heroic (main dmg source also gives HP regen + knockback) [I wish the developers would replace the kockback with a vacuum effect on the heroic]
  • Step Between Worlds basic (for mobility)
  • Aetheric Vortex Heroic (enemies take 100% dmg & are slowed + 20% dmg reduction + 20% movement speed + 20% CDR to players inside)
  • Arcane Binding Mastered (doing magic dmg increases fire dmg and vise versa by +30%)
  • Padded Armour (good dmg reduction but can be swapped out for other like Quaysh Shield Superior for dmg)
  • Master of Equilibrium Superior (consuming energy has a chance to lower cooldowns and using cooldown skills a chance to gain 10% energy)
  • Fortress of Willpower Mastered (15% dmg reduction+15% dmg)
  • Hero of the Desert (a bit of everything)
  • Duelist’s Chain Reaction (up to 400% crit  dmg which is 4 stacks of 100%)

Legendary Ranks

My advice for every builds is: is start with Legendary Reinforcement and eventually based on whether you need dmg reduction or dmg start investing into either Legendary Endurance or Legendary Punishment. Eventually, get Legendary Crushing for more dmg reduction if really needed.

The God Skill Tree setup uses only the first tree:
